Job Title: Head of Accounting and FP&A

Location: On-site Downtown Boston, MA

Position Type: Full-time Exempt- 50 hours/week

Total Compensation: $230K - $300K + Equity + Full Benefit Package (Day one)

Role Overview

Flexcar is seeking a highly driven and handson team player, who will be the everyday lead of the Accounting and FP&A functions. They will ensure accurate financial reporting, robust internal controls, and scalable systems to support rapid expansion. This role will work closely with the VP of Finance and senior leadership team to ensure compliance and provide insights that drive smarter business decisions. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in both technical/operational accounting and financial analysis, thrives in highgrowth, dynamic environments, and is motivated to build a function that blends financial rigor with operational insight.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Accounting Leadership

  • Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, monthly close, revenue recognition, accounts payable/receivable, and fixed assets
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, state and local tax requirements, and internal control frameworks
  • Lead the preparation of consolidated financial statements and audit coordination with external auditors
  • Implement scalable accounting policies, processes, and systems (e.g., NetSuite, expense management, reporting automation)

FP&A

  • Provide forwardlooking analysis on revenue, margins, and cash flow to guide strategic initiatives
  • Build dynamic financial models that link unit economics, operational KPIs, and capital structure
  • Support financing activities (ABS programs, credit facilities, equity raises) through analysis, modeling, and lender reporting
  • Support corporate budgeting, forecasting, and longrange planning processes across departments and markets
  • Deliver actionable insights on unit economics, growth drivers, and cost optimization to senior leadership
  • Create standardized dashboards and KPI reporting for leadership and board updates

Team & CrossFunctional Leadership

  • Build, mentor, and lead a team of accounting and FP&A professionals to ensure timely, accurate, and analytical support
  • Partner closely with Operations, Marketing, and Risk teams to align financial outcomes with strategic goals
  • Serve as the key liaison between the Finance function and external stakeholders, including auditors, lenders, and investors

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience across accounting, FP&A, and financial operations; preferably a strong blend of both public accounting and inhouse leadership roles
  • Deep understanding of GAAP, financial systems (NetSuite), and internal control design
  • A bias for action and ownership mentality, with a reputation for rolling up your sleeves, working hard, and driving results in fastpaced, ambiguous environments.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work crossfunctionally with stakeholders at all levels
  • Proven ability to lead teams through scaling phases and establish structure in dynamic, fastmoving environments
  • Comfortable operating both strategically and handson in daytoday execution
