Job Description

Overview We’re seeking a Head of Events who is equal parts creative visionary and metrics-driven operator. You’ll design and execute everything from intimate prospect dinners to large-scale conferences and press-worthy activations, building experiences that generate buzz while delivering qualified meetings, opportunities, and ARR. Runwise is the leading smart operating system for buildings. We control and optimize every system—including heating, cooling, electric, gas, and water—across 10,000+ buildings throughout the United States. The impact is substantial: Runwise lowers energy costs and reduces fossil fuel usage by ~20% in every building we serve, while making these spaces more comfortable, safe, and affordable. This translates to removing the equivalent of 100,000 cars worth of carbon emissions annually and more than $100M in energy savings. As a well-funded startup backed by leading investors, Runwise is headquartered in New York City with thriving operations in Chicago, Boston, and Washington D.C. We’re building the future of sustainable building operations at scale. Responsibilities Build a World-Class Events Strategy : Develop and execute a comprehensive events strategy that blends intimate deal-closing moments with large-scale activations. Own an aggressive quota tied to qualified meetings, pipeline creation, and ARR. Build repeatable playbooks for field events that consistently deliver closed-won revenue. Dominate Conferences : Turn industry conferences into competitive advantages through presence, branding, and execution. Oversee everything from booth design to side events, maximizing meetings and pipeline. Generate Buzz & Brand Lift : Produce press-worthy activations that capture attention and position Runwise as a category leader. Partner with Comms/PR to integrate events into broader brand campaigns. Inspire Through Creativity : Develop unique, bold experiences that prospects want to attend and talk about. Differentiate Runwise with innovative event concepts that cut through competitive noise. Execute with Operational Excellence : Own logistics, budgets, timelines, and reporting. Build and manage a lean team and partner ecosystem. Double down on strategies proven to drive ARR at the lowest possible CAC. Who You Are 4+ years of B2B events experience, including 2+ years leading events at a high-growth SaaS company. Data-driven, with expertise in event attribution and ROI measurement. Exceptional project management skills and attention to detail. Thrives in a fast-paced, scrappy startup environment. Bonus: Experience building an events function from the ground up, plus strong relationships with venues, vendors, and creative partners. What Success Looks Like in Year 1 Established cadence of field lunches/dinners that reliably drive meetings and revenue. Clear ROI measurement framework applied to every event. Standout presence at 3+ major conferences resulting in closed-won deals. 2–3 creative events generating press, buzz, and pipeline.
