Job Description
An HVAC technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. Their work ensures effective climate control and good air quality across homes, businesses, and industrial sites. Their duties range from diagnosing electrical and mechanical problems, replacing faulty parts, conducting preventative maintenance, interpreting blueprints, to clearly communicating with customers about system issues and recommended repairs.
Key Responsibilities
Installation: Setting up new HVAC equipment, including units, ductwork, and electrical components.
Maintenance: Carrying out regular inspections, cleaning, and making necessary adjustments to boost system efficiency.
Repair: Locating and fixing mechanical and electrical faults in furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, and related equipment.
Troubleshooting: Pinpointing issues within systems and determining effective solutions.
Customer Service: Explaining technical problems, suggesting options, and providing helpful advice to clients.
Record Keeping: Keeping accurate records of all completed work, used parts, and maintenance tasks.
Safety & Compliance: Following OSHA safety regulations and local codes, with proper handling and disposal of refrigerants.
