Job Description

We are seeking a strategic, mission-driven Senior Director of Finance to lead financial operations for HumanGood’s Affordable Housing division. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will deliver accurate, timely financial insight, support business decisions across a large portfolio, and lead a high-performing finance team.

What you will do in this role: 

  • Lead financial reporting, forecasting, and internal controls to ensure accuracy and compliance across all Affordable Housing communities and related entities

  • Oversee financial operations for 100+ HUD/LIHTC affordable housing communities, plus development accounting and ancillary entities

  • Strengthen financial systems, reporting processes, and analytical capabilities to enhance business performance

  • Manage external audits and ensure compliance with tax, HUD, LIHTC, and regulatory requirements

  • Partner with Property Management, Asset Management, Development, and other stakeholders to drive budgeting, planning, and operations

  • Support growth initiatives including acquisitions, dispositions, affiliations, and new development through financial analysis and modeling

  • Oversee cash management and liquidity for all communities

  • Build and maintain relationships with lenders, vendors, and consultants

  • Monitor regulatory, economic, and industry changes and advise leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop approximately 20 finance professionals

  • Align team structure and capacity to support organizational growth

To be successful in this role, you should have: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related field

  • 8+ years of finance experience in affordable housing (HUD/LIHTC), senior living, mixed-finance development, or housing preservation. Knowledge of accounting for projects under development and the RAD for PRAC process.

  • Advanced degree, CPA, and/or public accounting experience preferred

  • Strong leadership experience, managing finance teams and cross-functional relationships 
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and overall M365 suite 

  • Ability to travel occasionally (5-15%)

Compensation: $185-205K base salary + performance-based bonus
Location : this position is remote with some travel, candidates must be located in a state in which HumanGood operates (AZ, CA, ID, MA, NV, OR, PA, WA)
