The purpose of this job is to safely weld in all positions according to company specifications and standard work.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• Follow documented procedures, standard work, routings, and blueprints to perform safe and defect free operations.
• Hand weld all plain and alloy structural steel in all positions.
• Use of jib or gantry crane to manually position weld equipment.
• Grind and dress fabricated weldments.
• May operate forklift, scissor lift and area lift to access weldments.
• Identify income material, parts sub-assemblies, weldments.
• Position and align manually, with jib, gantry or overhead crane, work components to assemble large structure weldments in accordance to detailed drawings using jacks, clamps, jigs, fixtures, templates, and other layout tools.
• Clamp, bolt, tack weld, layout, burn, air arc, mark, and label to blueprints.

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of FCAW multi-pass (10+) welding experience on heavy plate (2+ inches).
• 3+ years of structural heavy plate / structure fitting experience.
• Previous .035 hard wire experience on 1/4" or thinner material.
• 3+ years of reading and comprehending complex blueprints.
• Experience with back gouging, carbon arcing or air arcing.
• Must pass three (3) weld qualification tests using FCAW large diameter wire (3/32).
• Must pass two (2) structural fitter qualification tests using FCAW large diameter wire (3/32).

• Safety first mindset.
• Understanding of quality requirements and ability to execute.
• Ability to work well individually and in a team environment.
• Ability to work overtime to support production demands.
• Ability to use read a tape measure, level, surface gauges, tram points, calipers, combination sets, wedges, blocks.
• Ability to weld in overhead and vertical up positions.

Additional Information:

• This position is located at the Caterpillar manufacturing facility located in South Milwaukee, WI.
• 2nd or 3rd shift position - Full Time.
• Pay is Step 1 $32.66 Step 2 $33.87 Step 3 $35.09 hr plus an additional $1.00 shift premium for 2nd or 3rd Shift.

Summary Pay Range: $27.40 - $36.38
