Position Title: Application Engineer - Standard Business

Reports To: Inside Sales Manager, Standard Business

Location: Richmond, VA or Houston, TX (flexible)

Position Summary:

We are seeking a motivated Application Engineer to support our Standard Business team, with a focus on the Industrial market . This role requires a strong foundation in pumps, pumping applications, and technical quoting. You will learn and apply KSB's products, processes, industry standards, and specifications to select pumps, prepare accurate quotations, and support our customers and sales teams. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with nationwide KSB Sales & distributors, international factories, and U.S. suppliers, while developing both detailed technical expertise and customer-facing skills.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare, manage, and deliver multiple technical quotations in a fast-paced environment.
• Answer customer product-related questions.
• Focus on applications such as industrial water treatment, cooling circuits, heat transfer systems, steel production, or Oil & Gas
• Support sales efforts for strategic OEMs, third-party partners, and service partners.
• Build relationships and provide technical responses to KSB sales teams, factories, vendors, and customers.
• Use KSB's selection tools to generate datasheets, curves, drawings, and other technical documents.
• Coordinate with vendors for auxiliary/buyout items and incorporate them into quotations
• Stay current with KSB product offerings, tools, and processes.
• Contribute to reporting, process improvement, and other application engineering initiatives as needed.

Qualifications:

• Education: B.S. degree in Engineering (Mechanical or related field preferred).
• Technical Skills:
  • Experience with pumps, rotating equipment, or mechanical/auxiliary equipment; 2+ years preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; familiarity with KSB selection tools is a plus.
• Core Competencies:
  • Strong time management and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Self-starter who can work independently while staying organized.
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written), able to clearly convey technical information in customer-facing situations.
  • Ability to interpret specifications and apply analytical reasoning to solve engineering problems
  • Demonstrates social perceptiveness and adaptability; responds thoughtfully to customers and collaborates effectively as part of a team
  • Active learner who stays up to date with new technologies and industry practices, with the ability to anticipate potential problems and propose creative solutions.
